Twice a year Jon Renau brings out a new range of wigs and top pieces. Jon Renau has a superior quality about them that we all just love. Even though we are on the other side of the world and going into Summer rather than Winter the new collection is still very welcomed and appropriate for our climate. The quality is unsurpassed to many other brands.

This new collection consists of: Elite 6-33 Main

Elite – The O’solite open cap range. The O’solite really are ideal for our Summer weather. It is a wefted wig that makes it extremely cool for our hot summers. They are so light and easy to wear. They can be styled with a comb and some hair spray or gel whichever you like. It is such a versatile wig.

Elizabeth 12FS8 Alt2

Elizabeth – Heat Defiant Lace Front /Monofiliament Synthetic Wig. I just love the softness of the waves and the way it just frames the face.

Elsa 4-27-30 Alt2 Elsa – Heat Defiant Collection Open Cap. This gives you the versatility of a synthetic wig and being able to style it with Heat. Do be careful when styling and only use a low heat to protect the fibers. The Heat defiant fibers can be styled with heat up to 130 degress celcius. The wefted back makes it cool enough to wear even on the hots days. it features a smartlace front which gives you an exquisite natural looking hair line at the front.

Smart Lace / Monofiliament Wig. This would be my all time favorite wig. It looks so natural with the long layers that have a natural flow about them. And this wig can be ordered in a Large Cap size which is not easy to find as some of you may know.

Top Level 6 Alt1

Top Level – A New Synthetic Hair Topper that is attached via a clip. You can comfortably attach it to the crown. It is 10” – 16” due to the different layer lengths. It gives such a feminine look of the long layers falling so elegantly over your shoulders. At the time of writing this we don’t have it in stock but you can give us a call and we will order in any pieces that you are interested in.

Gwyneth 12FS8 Alt1

Gwyneth – Human hair Smart Lace /Mono filiament Wig. This is the most expensive wig to arrive out of this collection but it is absolutely exquisite. If you are interested in this wig you may need to give us a call so we can help you with a special order.

Some of these products are not listed on our website as yet so if you are interested in any of these products we can order them in specially at no extra charge. There are so many colours to each style that it makes it impossible to stock all colours. Special Orders will take less than 2 weeks to arrive at your doorstep. Wig Colours Explained

What you need to know about Wig Colours

Wig colours and hairdresser colours are all very different and it can be a little confusing. Depending on the brand, some use numbers to represent colours and others use descriptions like Raisin, Baby Blonde, Hampton, which doesn’t always give you a true idea of the colour. Some use a combination of codes and numbers. Below is a list of codes used to describe how colours are put together. This is a basic list to help you understand how colours are made up:

F – stands for frosted. This is usually a combination of colours.
H – Highlighted. Generally there will be a base colour with highlights of another colour.
M – Mixed. Simply a mix of colours.
T – Tipped. The base colour has another colour just on the tips.
TT – Two Toned. There is a definite contrast of two colours from the top to bottom.

After the code is usually a number or a combination of numbers. Colour 1 is Jet Black and as the number gets higher the colour is generally lighter. Here is a list of the main colours used by a majority of manufacturers.

It’s impossible to list all colours available by all manufacturers and colours can differ between manufacturers. Hopefully, this list helps in giving you an idea of what you colour you are looking for.

At Wigs Online we rephotograph all of our wigs so you can see the colour and style of the wig that comes straight out of the box with as natural lighting as possible. Some websites only show glamorous shots that the manufacturer has made. They don’t always give you a true indication of the product that you will receive when you open your purchase.

FT_Brows False Eyebrows are ideal for those suffering with hair loss. Hair loss can happen for many reasons. It could be Alopecia, Cancer, stress, Autoimmune Disease, Pregnancy, Vitamin Deficiencies, Hormones, Anemia, Hypothyroidism, Lupus, Dramatic Weight loss, the list goes on forever. When we lose hair it may not be just from our scalp , it can happen where are eyebrows are meant to be.

For those who have lost most of their eyebrows, False Eyebrows are ideal as they need to sit flush to your skin in order to give you the seamless look. There are 5 different colours to choose from.

False Eyebrows are adhered to the skin with a specially formulated adhesive that is safe for all skin types. There is a special remover that you need in order to remove the brows safely.

Once the eyebrow wigs are adhered properly they can last up to 7 days and with reapplying you can use the false eyebrows for 2 – 3 months with proper care. There is also Brow powder that you can use do help define the eyebrow which will give it a more realistic appearance. You can use it as a dry product for a soft natural look or wet for a more dramatic look.

A few tips when applying the brows:

Decide where you want the eyebrows to begin. Hold the brows with a pair of tweezers from the tail end.
Its always a good idea to mark the area where you think your eyebrow should be with an eye pencil lightly.
Place the glue lightly on the netting side of the wig
Simply place the netting side down with your fingers.
To remove use the Specially formulated Remover and be gentle removing the eyebrow.
Note: False Eyebrows are designed for those who have very little hair left on the eyebrow and not for those who have a lot of natural eyebrow hair.

Styling a Human Hair Wig

Human Hair Wigs can be difficult as they do need styling after each wash. Synthetic hair wigs are treated so they bounce back in to shape after each wash. Choosing between a synthetic or human hair wig is a personal preference. Some people just love the feel and look of human hair wigs while others do not.

At Wigs Online we deal with Jon Renau as one of our suppliers of human hair wigs. The quality of their wigs are unsurpassable. I read an article on their blog this morning and thought it had some great points to remember when styling your human hair wig.

There are a few tips that should be kept in mind when styling a human hair wig:

Always wash the wig with a good quality shampoo and conditioner. At Wigs Online we have a specially formulated Shampoo, Conditioner and Argan oil.

Do not rub the hair so hard to tangle the fibres. Just blot with a towel the excess water.

Always use a wide tooth comb and start gently combing from the bottom of the hair.

Style the hair in sections using only a moderate heat. Not too much heat.

Use the cool button on your hair dryer if you have one.

If you need to use a flat iron use a heat protector spray on the hair before you start blowdrying the hair.

Hairpieces – A Growing trend

Hair pieces are the easiest way to add volume and length to your hair without costly trips to the hairdresser. No experience needed. Just a little time and very little effort involved.

They are available in human hair and synthetic hair. It’s a personal preference to which one suits you best. Human hair can require some styling where synthetic ones hold their shape without any styling at all. Years ago synthetic hair pieces didn’t look very real but these days they look nearly as good as any human hair piece. Human hair pieces are more costly but will last longer.

Managing to get a perfect pony tail or bun every time is actually impossible without a hair piece. With the hair piece you can look like you just walked out of the hair dresser. There is no denying that when we look great we certainly feel great and with that comes confidence.

Some hair pieces are attached via a claw clip or a drawstring or both. It ‘s a good idea to put you hair up in a small bun first. If you are using a claw clip then you can simply clip the claw clip over the top of your bun. And if it’s a drawstring you can put it over the top of the bun and secure it by pulling the drawstring till it feels firm. If you feel that you want more security you can use a few bobby pins to secure it in place.

And another option for those who want the quickest messy bun is the hair wraps. They are simply scrunchies with hair to wrap around your own bun. They can be as messy or neat as you like. You can throw your hair up on a hot balmy day and forget all about it while you still look glamorous and feel fresh. These pieces are my absolute favourites. I always pack one in my bag when travelling.

Matching a colour for a hair piece can be a little difficult but just a few things to take into account. Firstly, don’t forget that when you pull your hair into a bun the underneath of your hair is usually darker than the tips. So you may want to match that rather than the tips of your hair. Secondly most person’s hair is not a straight colour so sometimes if the colour match is not perfect it will probably still blend. And finally, if you use gel to put your hair in a bun then it will certainly be darker than your own hair.

Hair Pony tails are becoming a great trend for formal and informal occasions. If you look through some of the celebrities pictures at some of the high profile events, you will see lots of pony tails. Have a look at the gallery on Glamour Magazine for some of the A list Hair Trends – Pony Tails for 2014. You can acheive these looks with no costly hairdresser appointments involved. They are easy to wear and can be used over and over again.

Forever Young

As a follow one to our article last week about the different brands we stock, we would like to discuss a little bit more about each brand. This week we will start with Forever Young. It is a LA based label that has been producing wigs and hair pieces for over 30 years. Forever young cater for hi fashion conscious clientele at affordable prices. They appeal to both young and old alike. Some of their styles have been favorites for many years.

We have always enjoyed a great relationship with all our friends at Troika International. We are always kept up to date with all the latest styles and fashions. The Forever Young range caters for all age groups. Although, for those young teenagers who need to wear wigs Forever Young would be the best choice.
